Examples of Possible
Custom Reviews
The Nigro Firm customizes a unique construction document review for your project based on your budget, schedule and areas of concern.
Various custom reviews are discussed below… but keep in mind that anything is possible. You may choose an “interdisciplinary only” review for the whole project, but then also request a “full review” for a single discipline that you are concerned about (i.e. mechanical).
Not sure what kind of review is for you? If you are not sure what level of review is most suitable for your project or are not sure how best your project can benefit from a review, just email Natalie or give her a call at 1-801-737-0814. She will be more than happy to help you evaluate the needs of your project.
We do not have “static” checklists since they would be too simplistic to cover every conceivable condition. Instead, we generate a checklist per project… based on the project type, the unique architecture and systems in the project, and the unique method that the A/E team has chosen to represent the information.
To read more about why we do not use static checklists, see our newsletter article “Dangers of Using a Coordination Review Checklist.”

Interdisciplinary Only
This level of coordination review focuses on the points of interface between disciplines. A breakdown in communication between the disciplines is typically a source of very expensive cost overruns.
An “interdisciplinary only” level of coordination review looks for things like: Sample List
Review Fee: Ranges from $38 to $60 per drawing, depending on the complexity of the project and the size of the drawings.
Key Items
This level of coordination review looks at all items from an “interdisciplinary only” level plus it focuses on key items within each discipline. Certain inconsistencies, even though within a discipline, can be just as painful as interdisciplinary coordination errors.
This review includes the “interdisciplinary only” list plus “key items” such as: Sample List
Review Fee: Ranges from $50 to $90 per drawing, depending on the complexity of the project and the size of the drawings.
Full Review
This level of coordination review focuses on everything! Any place where we think that there could be matching or contradicting information is checked, within and between disciplines. Everything on each drawing is addressed.
This is an extremely methodical, meticulous, and thorough review that generally takes between one to two hours per drawing to perform. This is the most popular type of review requested, since it is the most comprehensive review and it provides the opportunity to save the most amount of money possible.
A “full review” level of coordination review looks for the types of items listed in the “interdisciplinary only” list and the “key items” list plus additional things like: Sample List
Review Fee: Ranges from $90 to $140 per drawing, depending on the complexity of the project and the size of the drawings.
Spot Checks
In a spot check we proofread or perform a quality audit only on requested areas of concern. This level of review may just check one discipline or one area of a structure... whatever the client requests.
This level of review, for example, is helpful after ground breaking to quickly check an area that you anticipate a problem in or can be used to evaluate a designer you have not worked with before. A spot check can also be used to support litigation or forensics or to help a subcontractor prepare a tighter bid.
